OBITUARIES GRIEF ASSISTANCE PLAN AHEAD CONTACT US HOME The Veterans Administration DOES NOT provide any payment for funeral services. The Veterans Administration does provide PARTIAL payment to certain Veterans with a discharge other than dishonorable for certain cemetery costs. Generally, only Veterans who served in WWI, WWII, the Korean conflict and Vietnam conflict are eligible for these benefits. The following benefits may be available: Partial reimbursement for burial expenses is available if the veteran qualifies. These reimbursements are made directly to the family when the funeral account is paid in full. When there is a balance due on the funeral account, the Veterans Administration will send payment to the mortuary. If there is a credit balance after benefits are received, the family will receive a refund. Your arrangement director at French Funeral Cremations will be happy to fill out the necessary paperwork for you. An honorably discharged Veteran is entitled to a burial space, interment and a memorial marker at a national cemetery. French will make those arrangements, too. Full military burial honors are provided strictly at the discretion of the military. They are generally provided only to those on active duty or retired military personnel. All discharged Veterans, other than dishonorable, are entitled to a United States Flag for their service free of charge. All Veterans and dependents are responsible for notifying the Veterans Administration as soon as possible of any change that could affect their VA monetary benefits.
